Each new day brings with it the opportunity to make countless choices. From what you wear, to where you go, to how you interact with people, you make a myriad of choices each day. Some of the choices we make have little effect on us. If I choose to wear blue shoes instead of black, I’m not setting myself up for success or failure. I am just living.
There are, however, decisions that have long reaching effects, who I chose to marry is one. I have committed to live with, love, and be loyal to the same man forever. I’d dare say that’s long reaching. With this in mind I present to you William Jennings Bryan. He said,
“Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.”
How often do you find yourself saying something along the lines of, “Well it was supposed to happen that way? ” Or if you didn’t get something you wanted, “Well I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.” I’m not saying there aren’t ever times where there are SHOULDS in life. What I am going to say, is that more often than not, there are COULDS, we get to choose. We get to choose what is important to us. We get to choose what job to go after, where to live, who to be friends with, what activities to put our kids in, and the list goes on and on and on.
Don’t live your life in a way that negates your ability to choose. Identify your desires, priorities, and goals and achieve your destiny.
