Today I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and saw a post that read,
Make a list of things that make you happy. Then make a list of things that you do in the day. Adjust accordingly. While I am always an advocate of owning your happiness, happiness is not as simple as doing what you want. I assure you that cleaning my kitchen doesn’t bring me happiness. However, having a clean house and a happy husband does make me happy. Oftentimes we have to take small steps that are things we don’t want to do, or don’t like, on our way to being happy.
My mother in law recently had surgery. If you ask her, physical therapy doesn’t make her happy. However, when she has full range of motion and full use of her knee, she will be happier.
My husband is working to lose weight. He doesn’t like restricting what he eats and how much he eats but when his clothes fit better and he has more energy, he will be happier.
I suggest a more useful approach would be. Make a list of the things that make you happy, and the things you need to do to achieve that happiness. Look at what you are currently doing and then adjust accordingly!
Make it a happy week.
